An Awakening in the Force continues the saga in the wake of the ambush on Kuar and the assassination of high-ranking Republic and Dominions officials, including security adviser Han Solo and Lord Protector Tht'aal. The surprise attack has sent shockwaves through the galaxy; the Galactic Dominions - now led by the shadowy Force-wielder Reliquis - has brought the New Republic close to ruin and now threatens to launch a violent coup and reseize control of the Empire's former territories.

Across the galaxy, Ei G'et-jalal, having forged an uneasy partnership with Jedi-turned-mercenary Nin Marakuk, sets out to hone her Force sensitivity with Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. But there is far more to her Force connection than first assumed, and a dangerous revelation concerning her past could be the key to Ei's undoing. The Extant, now exercising increased power under Reliquis, close in on her and their former mentor.

The fate of the galaxy - and that of the Force itself - hangs in the balance.
