Production

Development

Following The LEGO Movie 2's disappointing box office returns, Warner Bros. allowed their film rights with Lego to expire. LEGO entered negotiations with Universal Pictures for a new first-look deal. Dan Lin was expected to remain as producer through his company Rideback. In April 2020, the deal with Universal was set for a five-year film deal.

On August 8, 2022, Dan Lin revealed that a third film of the series titled The LEGO Movie 3 is in development. Lin promises that the creative team has "reinvented" the LEGO world for the third film, but it did not yet have a release date.

Animation

The animation was provided by Animal Logic, which also provided animation for the previous films of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation's The LEGO Movie series.

Music

The film's original score was composed by Mark Mothersbaugh, who composed The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Ninjago Movie, and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, with several artists such as SZA, Megan Thee Stallion, The Lonely Island, Anitta, DJ Khaled, Sia, Kesha, Becky G, Jonas Blue, Meghan Trainor, Stephane Legar, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Anuel AA, Olivia Olson, and Lil Uzi Vert performing new original songs for the film.

Ludwig Göransson serves as the executive music producer for the film.

Marketing

LEGO released a toyline theme of over 25+ sets and polybags based on scenes from the film, including collectable Minifigures. There was also a LEGO Movie 3 Unikitty SDCC Set with two expressions.

In the UK, DFS Furniture will run a marketing campaign that will tie in with The LEGO Movie 3.

In the Philippines, Smart Communications Inc. will promote The LEGO Movie 3 along with PLDT, Sun Cellular, and TNT. Philippine Airlines and Turkish Airlines will also update their safety videos for their airplanes to promote the entire franchise and the film itself, and will add the entire LEGO Movie franchise to their touch-screen devices, including the whole UniKitty! series.

Other worldwide brands that will partner with the film include Chevrolet, Sky UK, Unilever for all of its worldwide brands, Nestlé for its breakfast cereals, Colgate toothpastes, toothbrushes, and mouthwashes, Sky Cable Corporation, Cignal TV, PureFoods for the Tender Juicy Hotdog brands, McDonald's for Happy Meal toys and Coca-Cola glasses, Duty Free Philippines, The Coca-Cola Company, Oreo Cookies, Tic Tac, Pennzoil, Shell, and Ferrari.

Shell will re-release the LEGO Ferrari collections, and include The LEGO Movie 3 sets and a trip to the LEGOLAND theme parks worldwide. However, the Shell oil rigs will remain closed.

The LEGO Movie 3: The Third Part will also receive a series of Pop! Vinyl figures from Funko, consisting of Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, Benny, and MetalBeard.

Double A Paper will also promote The LEGO Movie 3: The Third Part (due to the fact that MetalBeard transforms into a copying machine in the first film).
