Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken 2 is an upcoming 3D computer-animated fantasy comedy film directed by Kirk DeMicco and produced by DreamWorks Animation. It is a sequel to Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023). And is coming to the big screen in August 21st, 2027.
Plot
After Ruby Gillman saves the ship that almost sank and stops Chelsea Van Der Zee who was going to flood the earth. Ruby Gillman is already the new popular girl of the Oceanside High so much that his personality was changing little by little. Now she has many friends, they and Connor appreciate her when she helps with some problem that happens here and she also had the thought that she hate the mermaids since there was none that was good and yes she sees one and catches it immediately.
Little by little, Ruby Gillman and Connor has little time left until they are no longer in Oceanside High, so she and Connor plans to take all their friends, family, and students to The Oceland to spend his and her last moments.
But what they didn't know is that there's a new hero and a bounty hunter known as a protector named Bruce who warns Ruby, Connor, and Sam about a evil Leviathan who is attempt to rule the seas and conquer Atlantis. As he protects and kept Ruby, Connor, Sam, and their friends and Ruby's family safe, Sam, Ruby and Connor and their friends sets out and follow Bruce on a glorious adventure of a lifetime, and save Atlantis (Iceland).
Meanwhile, Musa Zoet Water was hiding in the sea bushes, before a fearful mermaid saw what happened: when Feropurkus Yotsu "The Leviathan King" found out that Chelsea Van Der Zee was defeat, he wanted to leave his big cave and look for the objects that the mermaids prevented him from doing. It Musa Zoet Water would be difficult for the humans or krakens to tell since they wouldn't believe it until Sam Gillman was the only one who secretly believed it.

- Lana Condor as Ruby Gillman, a shy 16-year-old teenager kraken, who is the protector of Oceanside and Warrior Princess of the Seven Seas, and got superpowers and turns into a small kraken, and nervous that she loves Connor.
- Annie Murphy as Chelsea Van Der Zee* “Red Haired Mermaid”, she is Ruby’s Friend her Super Sea-Girl Besties (former enemie), the Princess Warrior of Mermaid Kingdom and nervous that she loves Diego, appears at the end when she saw Musa he realized his mistake reedemed.
- Jaboukie Young-White as Connor, Ruby's skater-boyfriend, math tutee and skater who follows her into her adventure, and turns into a big and small kraken that he got powers, the men in his family.
- Israel Broussard as Diego, Chelsea’s boyfriend, math tutee and skater who follows her into her adventure, and turns into a mermaid that he got a magical trident to get his powers to protect the mermaids and Kraken, the men in his family.
- Chris Evans as Bruce Otreffor, the daring, fearless, and clever human being who is the protector and the bounty hunter of the seven seas and Atlantis, and attempt to protect Ruby and Connor, and her family safe from the evil Leviathan.
- Blue Chapman as Sam Gillman, Ruby's energetic and loyal younger 8-year-old brother and second-grade student who she finds very annoying, and the legend of Dodge-Ball, with his Mighty Kraken with Super Speed, and attempt to aspires Ruby and Connor on their adventure.
- Josh Brolin as Feropurkus Yotsu "The Leviathan King", A rude and dark leviathan who is trying to attempt to rule the seas and the land and looking for a way to control the Ocean and leader of Ocean of Darkness, and attempts to capture Ruby Gillman, Chelsea Van Der Zee, Connor, and other sea monsters, and attempt to kill Bruce.

Production
In June 28, 2025, DreamWorks announced that Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken 2 is indeed in works via their Twitter account, with the relase date announced on July 1st, 2027. During NYCC 2023, Mike Myers revealed the film's official title and synopsis, as well as it's director, writers, the part of the cast, and the rest of the main development crew, with the information that more of cast members will be announced soon.
In September 27, 2026, an interview with the film’s director, Kirk DeMicco, he stated that he had intended to showcase more things, such as going more in depth about the Mermaids, but was unable to due to the budget. He also expressed interest in making a sequel, stating his reasons why: “In our dreams, but maybe not in our budget. No, but there was an opportunity, but we had to make choices. And, so we always felt like if we had done that, we would've lost so much of the time, the personality of who is really getting to know Chelsea. And it worked well for our themes of the fact that they are all in hiding. And, there is this thing that she is the only one, because it matched up really nicely with what Ruby's situation is and even with her mother, is that everybody in that movie, all the women in that movie are hiding something. And Ruby's the first one at the very end to stand up and take up as much space as she wants and declare to everybody who she really is and that she's gonna live her life this way. And I think that was really important to us.” He stated potential ideas for the sequel but has not confirmed anything yet. “I hope that the family message resonates in a way that audiences will want to see further instalments of Ruby's story, as well as that of her family and friends. We created lots of monsters for her to fight so hopefully one day she will wrestle a Leviathan!”
Trivia
- It will be the second DreamWorks Animation film to relase in August.
- This is the first sequel of Dreamworks Animation where the main villain is reedemed in the end.
- It is Pierre Coffin's first work outside of Despicable Me franchise (where he had voiced the minions throughout the franchise and directed on the same franchise). It would be his first participation as voice actor but not director of a movie.
