Lemar Hoskins was an American Harlem Hellfighter during WWI.

Biography[]

Lemar's father was a US Marine during the Spanish-American war in 1898, descended from black slaves from Virginia who were freed after the Emancipation Proclamation. Lemar always looked up to his father who overcame the racism in the Corp and fought alongside white men during the battles that would make the US Marines respected as America's shock troopers. In 1917, Lemar attempted to enlist in the Marine Corp to fight alongside his childhood best friend, John Walker- who was white. John was let into the Corp, but despite Lemar being in better shape than John, the Corp wouldn't let Lemar in because of him being black. He was instead forced by the draft to enlist in the Army instead, being forced to fight in the 369th Infantry Regiment as a "Harlem Hellfighter", Lemar actually being from Harlem along with John. Lemar hated being in the Army and not the Marines but he quickly gained a family in the Harlem Hellfighters.

Trivia[]

  • Lamar's movie appearance is based off of the Narrator from Battlefield 1.
  • When Lamar uses a chunk of an American tank as a shield, it is a nod to his comic book appearance when he used a shield like Captain America's first shield.
  • Originally, I accidently began writing Lemar's name as Lamar Hopkins. I was sad to find out his incorrect because I don't enjoy his actual name, but I decided to go with it for comic-accuracy.
