Godzilla Forever is a 2012 American monster film directed by Phillip Noyce from a screenplay by Gary Whitta. It is based on Toho Co., Ltd.'s Godzilla franchise; It is the 30th film in the Godzilla franchise and the second Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Will Smith, Daniel Craig, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Lena Headey, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jacob Tremblay, Robert De Niro, Patrick Stewart, Rosamund Pike, Adrien Brody, Djimon Hounsou, Odeya Rush, Ed Harris, Rhys Ifans and Gary Oldman. In the film, Godzilla, who had attacked mankind for years, finally appears again and a military unit is sent to stop him while a new threat emerges.
The project began as an IMAX Short film in 2004 but was transferred to Legendary and Columbia Pictures in 2009 to be redeveloped as a feature film. The film was officially announced in March 2010 and Noyce was announced as the director in January 2011. Principal Photography lasted from January 2011 to December 2011. It would be the final American film to be scored by James Horner and released during his lifetime, three years before his death on June 22, 2015 from an aircraft accident.
Godzilla Forever was released on November 3, 2012 to positive reviews from critics who praised the direction, visual effects, music, cinematography and respect to the source material. The film was a box office success, grossing $529 million worldwide.
Plot
In 1954, Godzilla attacked Tokyo, Japan, leaving it to ruins for some time. Godzilla would attack mankind over the years, prompting a military unit known as the "G-Slayers" to fight back against the monster. Godzilla retreats, seemingly to never show up again for the time being. Godzilla passed into legend and myth, many believing he is even dead.
In 2030, a Japanese Vessel is suddenly attacked during a storm.

Music
James Horner Scored the film, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Noyce described Horner's first musical cue as "Spectacular." Noyce said, "I wanted to create a score that felt massive and huge but also intimate and small." Noyce admitted that Horner had the score "nailed in an hour and a half." Horner incorporated themes from Akira Ifukube's previous Godzilla scores. Horner felt it was very "necessary" to repurpose Akira Ifukube's themes, especially Godzilla's Theme.
